Comcast Business Launches New Cybersecurity Service For Small Businesses Nationwide
Enterprise-level protection aims to help smaller companies defend against growing cyber threats

As cyberattacks increasingly target small businesses, Comcast Business has announced the nationwide launch of SecurityEdge™ Preferred, a new cybersecurity service designed to provide enterprise-grade protection without requiring specialized IT staff or additional hardware.
The Philadelphia-based telecommunications provider says the service is embedded directly into its business internet network, allowing customers to activate cybersecurity protections within minutes through their existing Comcast Business internet connection.
According to Comcast Business, SecurityEdge Preferred monitors both incoming and outgoing internet traffic in real time, blocking threats such as malware, ransomware, phishing attempts, and botnet activity before they reach business devices. The platform also uses artificial intelligence to identify emerging threats and includes tools for filtering malicious IP addresses, restricting traffic from high-risk geographic regions and controlling application access.
The launch comes amid growing concern about cybersecurity risks facing small businesses. Comcast cites research from Cisco indicating that 43 percent of cyberattacks now target small businesses. The company also points to findings from the Identity Theft Resource Center showing that financial losses associated with data breaches have increased significantly in recent years, with some incidents resulting in damages exceeding $500,000.
“Security shouldn’t require an IT department to work,” said Christian Nascimento, senior vice president of Connectivity and Digital Customer Solutions for Comcast Business. “SecurityEdge Preferred is part of our broader commitment to simplifying how small businesses access and manage critical technology.”
Unlike many cybersecurity solutions that require separate installations or multiple vendors, Comcast says SecurityEdge Preferred operates directly within its network infrastructure. The company argues that this approach enables threats to be intercepted at the network edge before reaching customer devices.
Comcast reported that during May 2026, the service blocked threats targeting small businesses at an average rate of more than 230 incidents per second. Those threats included malware, phishing attacks, botnet communications, and other malicious traffic.
The service is available to eligible Comcast Business customers nationwide. Pricing begins at $40 per month for internet customers with speeds below 1 gigabit per second and $60 per month for Gig+ customers. The company said there are no per-user licensing fees or annual subscription requirements.
SecurityEdge Preferred completed a phased rollout that began with a limited beta test in November 2025 and is now available throughout Comcast Business’s service footprint.
