Westerra Credit Union continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Colorado’s leading financial institutions, earning multiple national accolades that highlight both its financial performance and commitment to member service.
The Denver-based credit union was recently named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions for the third consecutive year. Westerra also received BauerFinancial’s prestigious 5-Star Superior Rating, recognizing the institution’s financial strength and stability.
Adding to the organization’s achievements, Westerra Chief Information Officer Greg Glawson was honored with a technologist award in The Credit Union Connection’s inaugural F.A.B. Leadership Awards, which recognize leaders who are forward-thinking, agile, and bold in advancing the credit union mission.
“These distinctions are not only a testament to our financial strength and stability, but our commitment to our members and the state of Colorado as a whole,” said Todd Marksberry, president and CEO of Westerra Credit Union. “This success can be attributed to our employees, whose dedication continues to elevate Westerra’s service standards year after year.”
Newsweek partnered with Plant-A Insights Group to identify the nation’s top regional banks and credit unions. The evaluation considered profitability, lending performance, media coverage, and customer sentiment. Researchers surveyed more than 71,000 Americans and analyzed millions of social media and mobile app reviews as part of the selection process.
BauerFinancial, a respected independent rating firm, evaluates federally insured financial institutions using data reported to federal regulators. The company’s 5-Star rating is reserved for institutions demonstrating exceptional financial performance and stability.
Glawson, who joined Westerra earlier this year, credited the organization’s member-first culture for both the award and his leadership approach.
“Though I’ve only been with Westerra for a few months, I’m inspired by the credit union’s unwavering commitment to its members,” Glawson said. “That dedication has shaped my approach to leading the technology department, and I am deeply honored to be recognized for contributing to Westerra’s mission and for the collective work of our entire team.”
The F.A.B. Leadership Awards were created to recognize professionals who foster positive workplace cultures while helping develop the next generation of credit union leaders. Winners were selected by The Credit Union Connection’s founders and an independent panel of industry judges.
Founded in 1934, Westerra Credit Union serves members throughout Colorado and continues to expand its community impact through financial services, education and local partnerships.
