Most dentists probably don’t unwind behind a pair of turntables. Dr. Meghan Holub does. Balanced Dental Studio, a Glendale Chamber of Commerce member serving patients from its Lakewood office, has welcomed Dr. Holub, DDS, to its clinical team. She brings advanced hospital-based training, experience practicing in the Denver area, and an unusual second pursuit as a DJ who has performed in Denver and abroad.

For Balanced Dental Studio founder Dr. Elizabeth Turner, the addition brings another experienced clinician to the practice while maintaining the personal approach to patient care that the office emphasizes.

“Dr. Meghan listens before she picks up an instrument, and patients feel that right away,” Turner said. “Her training means very little rattles her. When something complicated walks through the door, she’s already seen a version of it.”

From New York To Colorado

Originally from Long Island, New York, Holub took a somewhat different route to dentistry. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Miami before attending the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where she receiv­ed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

The combination of psychology and dentistry turned out to be a natural fit. Dentistry requires technical knowledge and precision, but it also requires understanding people — particularly patients who may arrive at the dentist feeling nervous or uncertain.

Holub was drawn to a profession that com­bines science, artistry, problem-solving, and personal interaction.

After dental school, she chose to add another year of intensive training through a General Practice Residency at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Jacobi is part of the NYC Health + Hospitals system and an academic affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As a Level I trauma center, the hospital gave Holub exposure to cases far beyond those typically encountered during dental school.

Dental residents at Jacobi work with emergency room staff in treating maxillofacial trauma and receive experience involving operating room cases, dental implants, cone beam imaging, laser dentistry, and other advanced procedures.

A general practice residency is not required for dentists to enter general practice, making Holub’s decision to complete the additional hospital training an important part of the experience she now brings to Balanced Dental Studio.

That background can be particularly valuable when routine dentistry suddenly becomes anything but routine.

Building A Career In Colorado

After completing her training in New York, Holub eventually made her way west and practiced dentistry in the Denver area before joining Balanced Dental Studio.

She continues to expand her clinical skills through advanced training, including work involving dental implants and Invisalign clear aligners.

At Balanced Dental Studio, Holub treats patients of all ages and joins a practice focused on combining modern dental technology with individualized care.

er interests outside the office, however, are considerably less conventional.

Holub is also a DJ, a pursuit that has taken her from the precision of the dental operatory to performances on stages in Denver and abroad.

To her, the two worlds aren’t as different as they initially appear.

“Both are about reading the room,” Holub said. “You pay attention, you adjust, and people leave feeling better than when they walked in.”

It is an apt description for someone whose professional life combines technical precision with an ability to connect with the person on the other side of the chair — or the dance floor.

When she isn’t seeing patients or performing, Holub takes advantage of her adopted home state. She can often be found camping somewhere in Colorado, frequently accompanied by her dog, Steve.

A Growing Chamber Member

The addition of Holub marks another step for Balanced Dental Studio as the Chamber member continues serving patients throughout the Denver metropolitan area.

For the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, locally operated businesses such as Balanced Dental Studio represent an important part of the broader business community. Although the practice is located in Lakewood, its Chamber membership connects it with businesses, professionals, and residents throughout Glendale and the surrounding area.
