Local Breweries Impress At Hops In The Hangar

The Greater Glendale Chamber of Commerce now has three local breweries as members. The Bull & Bush Brewery, which opened in 1971, has been a member since the Chamber was launched in 1999. And now, Launch Pad Brewery in Aurora, and Comrade Brewing in Denver, have joined complimenting the Chamber nicely with great local brew and medal winners in a variety of competitions.

Launch Pad and Comrade were among 19 breweries pouring at Hops in the Hangar, a beer festival held inside Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Lowry. Attendees sampled an incredible selection of over 70 brews, plus cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic offerings. They had access to the world of aviation history as they traveled through the museum, enjoyed live music, food stations featuring elevated pub eats, games, and more.

“We were happy to be pouring for the 8th time and a wonderful venue to have a beer fest,” said David Lin, owner of Comrade Brewing in Denver. “Where else can you have a festival, drinking beer in front of a 150-foot-long Air Force bomber?”

Comrade poured three beers at the festival. They poured The Specter, a Belgian- Style Wheat Ale brewed with wheat, flaked rye, Curacao orange peel, coriander and hopped with Sorachi Ace and Lemondrop. Next, they had their West Coast Gold, a West Coast Pilsner, hopped with El Dorado, Strata & Citra. Finally, they poured the Foam Party Session IPA, a sessionable IPA, hopped with Mosaic in the kettle and dry-hopped with Simcoe and more Mosaic.

“This project is a clear example of what it means to invest in Arapahoe,” said Board of County Commissioners Chair Leslie Summey. “We couldn’t replace the facility entirely, so we took a thoughtful, creative approach to make the most of what we have and make it more effective.”
