Comrade Brewing Stands Tall As A Denver Craft Beer Powerhouse

Denver’s craft beer scene has no shortage of standout breweries, but few have amassed the kind of loyal following, and hardware, earned by Comrade Brewing. Tucked just off Iliff Avenue in southeast Denver, the brewery has quietly built a reputation as one of Colorado’s most consistent producers of award-winning beer, all while maintaining the laid-back atmosphere of a true neighborhood taproom.

Founded in 2014, Comrade Brewing quickly made its mark with impeccably crafted IPAs, lagers, and seasonal releases that emphasize technical precision and clean, expressive flavors. Their flagship Superpower IPA has become a modern Colorado classic, bold, bright, and endlessly drinkable, and continues to anchor a tap list that rotates with the seasons.

Comrade’s commitment to quality has earned them accolades at nearly every major competition, including multiple medals at the Great American Beer Festival, and the prestigious Brewery of the Year award. But despite the growing national recognition, the brewery remains distinctly local. Regulars know the staff by name, newcomers are greeted like old friends, and the space buzzes with the easy warmth of Denver’s south-side community.

Head brewer Marks Lanham has long credited Comrade’s success to consistency and humility. “We just try to make beer that people want to drink more than one of,” he often says: a philosophy that shows in every pint. Whether it’s a crisp pilsner, a hop-forward pale ale, or one of their highly anticipated limited releases, Comrade’s offerings strike a balance between innovation and tradition.

The brewery also maintains a strong connection to the city’s beer culture. They regularly collaborate with local breweries, participate in Denver beer festivals, and support charitable causes throughout the region. On any given night, you’ll find a mix of neighborhood residents, industry veterans, and craft-beer pilgrims who’ve traveled across town (or across the country) just to see what’s on tap.

As Denver continues to evolve, Comrade Brewing stands as a reminder of what makes the city’s craft beer scene truly special: dedication, community, and beer brewed with genuine passion. Whether you’re a hop chaser, a lager lover, or simply someone who appreciates craftsmanship done right, Comrade remains one of Denver’s most reliable stops for a world-class pint.

For those who haven’t yet visited, consider this your call to action — your next favorite beer might just be waiting there.
