Pelican Bay At Cherry Creek: Unique Activities For The Whole Family
Pelican Princess Tour Boat: This year a new custom designed, two-level, 50-passenger cruise boat is operating on the lake. It hosts weddings and corporate events out on the 880-acre lake as well as weekend tours.
While motorists speed along I-225 below the towering Cherry Creek Dam, few know of all the unique recreational activities in the popular lake just over the hill in Cherry Creek State Park.
New Glendale Chamber member Pelican Bay at Cherry Creek operates the multiple facility marina for the Colorado State Park. There are 253 permanently docked sailboats, speed boats, and pontoons. Four sailing clubs and two rowing clubs compete there weekly and teach skills to area youngsters.
A large boat rental operation offers the latest ski and wake boats, pontoons, and jet skis. A separate facility offers paddle board, canoe, and kayak rentals, plus lessons.
The two-level Lake House hosts numerous weddings and corporate events on the outside deck and on the sand. A nautically themed bar — “The Pub” offers a full bar with seating beneath a shaded deck overlooking the lake, open Tuesdays – Sunday.
All the activities are managed by longtime resident Erik Dyce, who formerly managed Red Rocks and other Denver facilities for 26 years. He has sailed at Cherry Creek Reservoir for 33 years and has operated the marina since 2015.
Weekly Beach Concerts
With his national entertainment reputation and experience with music concerts, Erik Dyce naturally created the weekly “Live! AT The Lake” concert series featuring Colorado’s best tribute bands.
Every Wednesday evening hundreds of nostalgic music lovers gather at The Lake House and on the beach to listen to favorite songs and dance in the sand.
Additionally, Denver’s popular Live at Jacks hosts beach concerts on Thursday nights on the same portable stage.
