Enhanced traffic flow and multimodal features now open on Dry Creek Road and Inverness Drive West
celebrated key features of more than $11 million in transportation infrastructure improvements with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 17, at 198 Inverness Drive West (CommonSpirit Parking Lot). These traffic improvements will benefit thousands of daily commuters, cyclists, and nearby residents.
Major Improvements
Thanks to the combined $4.5 million Dry Creek Road project and $7 million Inverness Drive West project, travelers now enjoy significantly improved traffic flow and new multimodal transportation options.
Key improvements include:
Extended eastbound lane: The Dry Creek Road eastbound off-ramp lane from Interstate 25 now connects directly to Inverness Drive East, eliminating the need for abrupt lane changes and creating more efficient traffic flow for eastbound motorists.
Three new roundabouts: Inverness Drive West features roundabouts at Inverness Lane West, Inverness Boulevard, and near Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Catholic Health Initiatives driveways.
Enhanced pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure: New bicycle lanes and a 10-foot-wide landscaped multiuse path replace traditional sidewalks.
Improved safety features: New traffic signals, enhanced signage, safer roadway crossings, and updated lighting.

Traffic Challenges
“These two projects highlight the County’s commitment to invest in and improve our future transportation infrastructure and the value of partnerships,” said District 2 County Commissioner Jessica Campbell. “We want residents to be able to get where they’re going easily and how they wish. These projects allow traffic to move more efficiently and accommodate the travel of cyclists and pedestrians.”
The improvements address congestion issues identified in the I-25/Dry Creek Corridor Study, conducted between 2015 and 2017 in partnership with the City of Centennial, Inverness Metropolitan Improvement District, and the Southeast Public Improvement Metropolitan District. The study recognized this corridor as an important thoroughfare for both local and regional travel.
Transforming Inverness Drive West
Inverness Drive West has been completely transformed from a four-lane to a two-lane road with dedicated bicycle lanes on both sides. The three new roundabouts provide a safer alternative to traditional left-hand turns while reducing vehicle speeds. Additional improvements include stormwater enhancements and new lighting throughout the corridor.
